World Art Day at Hampstead Gate

Hampstead Gate World Art Day

There were endless opportunities for creativity at Hampstead Gate Day Nursery in Milton Keynes as children celebrated World Art Day with a series of exciting activities.

At the award-winning setting on Eelbrook Avenue, pre-schoolers were inspired by renowned artist Claude Monet as they delved into co-research to find out more about his artistic style and brushwork, before choosing one of his famous paintings to influence their own work.

With reference paintings including ‘The Water Lily Pond’ and ‘The Japanese Footbridge’, the budding young artists experimented with different mediums and techniques as they created their masterpieces, before proudly displaying them in their own Hampstead Gate gallery.

Hampstead Gate Day Nursery Team Leader, Ashleigh Smith explained;

“Our children had a brilliant time learning about Monet’s life and work for World Art Day, and did a fantastic job of making their own pieces in his signature impressionist style. Our little ones not only learned about artistic techniques but also developed their fine motor skills, imagination, and self-expression. As early childhood educators, we believe in the power of art to inspire, educate, and bring joy to young minds.”

World Art Day is celebrated on 15th April 2024.
