Festivities were well underway at Woodlands Day Nursery in Milton Keynes as families and colleagues gathered for a ‘Very Royal Tea Party’ in the grounds outside.
As part of celebrations to mark the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, parents were invited to join their children at the Ofsted-rated ‘Outstanding’ Day Nursery on Byerly Place, where they enjoyed a selection of homemade treats, including cakes, sandwiches and scones, as well as taking part in a charity raffle to raise vital funds for Bliss, helping to support poorly babies.
Pre-schoolers were delighted to showcase their creativity by making their very own crowns and decorative bunting to set the scene, whilst a host of themed activities also took place across the setting, from learning about castles and royalty, to crafting with a variety of red, white and blue materials and reading storybooks about the Queen.
Woodlands Day Nursery Manager, Alyson Hefferon explained;
“We had a brilliant time commemorating this special event in history and it was wonderful to be able to welcome parents back to a nursery event for the first time since the pandemic. The children loved preparing for the tea party and this was a fantastic opportunity to teach them more about British history and promote a wider understanding of the world.”
