Festivities were well underway at Green Park Day Nursery in Reading as families and colleagues gathered for a ‘Very Royal Tea Party’ in the garden space outside.
As part of celebrations to mark the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, parents were invited to join their children at the award-winning setting on South Oak Way, where they enjoyed a selection of homemade treats, including cakes, sandwiches and scones, as well as taking part in a charity raffle to raise vital funds for Bliss, helping to support poorly babies.
Pre-schoolers were delighted to showcase their creativity by making their very own crowns and decorative bunting to set the scene, whilst a host of themed activities also took place across the setting, from learning about castles and royalty, to crafting with a variety of red, white and blue materials and going on their very own ‘Corgi Hunt’ around nursery grounds.
Green Park Day Nursery Deputy Manager, Grace Critcher explained;
“We had a brilliant time commemorating this special event in history and it was wonderful to be able to welcome parents to join the celebrations. The children loved preparing for the tea party and this was a fantastic opportunity to teach them more about British history and promote a wider understanding of the world around them.”
We prioritise the importance of outdoor play at Cedars Day Nursery in Leighton Buzzard. All children at our Ofsted-rated ‘Outstanding’ nursery have access to our large, natural garden area on a daily basis as we recognise the impact that being outdoors has on a child’s social, emotional and physical development. The children enjoy planting vegetables and tasting their produce, served by our dedicated Nursery Chef.
