Hampstead Gate children bake for charity

Pre-schoolers from Hampstead Gate Day Nursery in Milton Keynes were delighted to spread the love on Valentine’s Day by selling their homemade biscuits to help raise funds for charity.

Inspired by BHF Heart Month, young bakers from the award-winning setting on Eelbrook Avenue showcased their culinary talents by making special heart-shaped biscuits, which were then decorated and packaged to sell to families, raising a total of £40.00 for the British Heart Foundation, which will now help fund research into congenital heart disease.

During the exciting fundraising activity, children were able to practice basic kitchen skills and safety practices, as well as building on their communication and language, teamworking, instruction following and mathematics knowledge through weighing and measuring.

Hampstead Gate Deputy Manager, Katie Hughes explained;

“Not only did this baking activity teach our little ones valuable skills ready for school, but it also instilled in them the importance of giving back and helping others where possible. They learnt that even the smallest act of kindness can make a big impact on the lives of others. They were hugely proud of themselves and couldn’t wait for their families to try the biscuits.”
