Field House triumph at Buckingham Christmas Parade

Field House Buckingham Christmas Parade

Children and colleagues from Field House Day Nursery delighted crowds as they showcased their pantomime themed float to hundreds during the annual Buckingham Christmas Parade.

Scooping second place with their Beauty and the Beast inspired float, the group from the award-winning Tingewick Road setting pulled out all the stops with dazzling costumes and props, which were created during special crafting sessions with pre-schoolers, with beloved characters made from recycled materials and props including thrones, books and roses.

Last year, the Field House team were thrilled to take first place with their Alice in Wonderland themed float, with the nursery having taken part in the competition for over a decade.

Field House Deputy Manager, Lucy Piosek explained;

“We absolutely love getting involved in this yearly tradition with our local community. The team always put in so much effort and the parade helps creates magical memories for our children. We would like to thank everyone who came out to support us and we hope we brought smiles to faces of all who attended and helped get everyone in the festive spirit.”

At the Ofsted-rated ‘Outstanding’ Day Nursery on Bennett Street, families gathered at the setting for a fun-filled Christmas event, complete with themed crafting activities including wreath making, bauble decorating, festive games and singing of favourite Christmas songs.

Throughout December, pre-schoolers also enjoyed a visit from the London Fire Brigade, who gave the captivated group a guided tour of the fire engine and its sirens, before speaking to them about the equipment used to extinguish flames and the protective clothing worn.

As part of the informative safety talk, children were able to try radios, torches and the digital map in the cab of the fire engine, much to their delight, before having an inspiring conversation on equality, having been thrilled to be in the presence of a female firefighter.

Devonshire Day Nursery Manager, Emmy Avery explained;

“We have had a brilliant December at Devonshire and the children particularly loved having the important adults in their lives come to nursery for a special afternoon of celebrations. The firefighter visit was also a fantastic experience for our pre-schoolers, who have been learning all about the people in the community that help us, with this session giving them a much better understanding of the work that the emergency services do to keep us safe. We are hugely grateful to them for giving up their time to make this opportunity so memorable.”
