Double Ofsted ‘Outstanding’ victory for Woodberry Day Nursery

Woodberry Ofsted Outstanding

There was cause for celebration at Woodberry Day Nursery in Winchmore Hill as proud parents and practitioners learnt that the setting had achieved Ofsted-rated ‘Outstanding’ status for the second time running, following an inspection in December.

An outcome achieved by only 13 percent of all English Early Years providers, the inspector praised the “excellent opportunities” on offer to the “highly settled, happy and busy” children at the setting on Church Hill, which was described as a “harmonious” environment where pre-schoolers “demonstrate huge amounts of kindness towards others”.

In the report, the inspector credited the support for children with special educational needs and disabilities and praised the “exceptional partnerships” established with other professionals to further progress, including occupational health and speech therapists.

Partnerships with families were admired as “outstanding” by the inspector, who observed that “leaders place a huge focus on creating strong relationships” whilst parents are “extremely happy” with the care given and “comment that their children show high levels of compassion and kindness since starting at the nursery.”

The inspector also credited the “culturally rich and diverse learning environment” created by staff, including celebrations for cultural events to “celebrate each child’s uniqueness and to help them learn about their differences”, adding that “the atmosphere and curriculum successfully help children to develop high self-esteem and highly respectful attitudes.”

Ofsted inspector, Laura Rathbone observed;

“Leaders have a clear vision for continued excellence and place children at the heart of everything they do. They reflect on and evaluate their provision consistently. Leaders use staff’s extensive knowledge of children’s learning experiences and progress to identify ways to further improve and ensure that each individual child’s needs are met.”

“Leaders are genuinely passionate about the children, their families and the staff. This creates a nurturing, respectful atmosphere that is felt throughout the setting”, she added.

Woodberry Day Nursery Manager, Rosie O’Sullivan explained;

“We are thrilled to be named as Outstanding by Ofsted once again and are so proud of this achievement, which recognises our commitment to providing each and every one of our children with the best possible start in life and a smooth transition to mainstream schooling.”
