River View Day Nursery team embrace season of goodwill

Christmas came early for neighbours of River View Day Nursery in Hertford as the kind-hearted Kitchen Team delivered an early Christmas dinner straight to their doors.

Following the children’s annual Christmas lunch at the Ofsted-rated ‘Outstanding’ Day Nursery on North Road, colleagues Danielle Matthews and Sue Adams paid a special visit to local residents, one of whom is 103 years old, gifting them each a portion of the Christmas lunch, as well as dessert and handmade Christmas cards from the children.

Across the nursery, children have showcased their creativity with a series of festive crafting activities, including making tree decorations and a post box for their letters for Santa.

River View Day Nursery Business Administrator, Jo Mongey explained;

“We are lucky to have such wonderful neighbours here at River View and were keen to do something to spread some festive cheer, especially after having to deal with broken water pipes earlier in the week. They were extremely grateful and really appreciated the gesture, this also sets a brilliant example to the children about the importance of kindness.”

Walking in a Winter Wonderland at Green Park Day Nursery

Christmas came early for delighted families at Green Park Day Nursery in Reading as they were transported to a Winter Wonderland, all whilst raising money for charity ‘Bliss’.

At the award-winning setting on South Oak Way, children and parents took to the grounds outside where they explored a magical trail of festive lights and admired the lit gardens, before meeting Father Christmas and enjoying a mince pie and warm beverage.  

Thanks to generous donations, Green Park Day Nursery raised a grand total of £300.00 for the worthy cause, which will now go towards helping babies born premature or sick.

As a result of their fundraising efforts throughout the year, which have included colleagues spending a night ‘sleeping rough’ under the stars, a toy sale, running festivals, a Jubilee tea party, dress up days and more, the nursery have helped contribute to the £160,000 raised so far by Childbase Partnership settings for Bliss since January.

Green Park Day Nursery Deputy Manager, Grace Critcher explained;

“Everybody had a fantastic time exploring our Winter Wonderland and having the chance to receive an early present from Santa. We have had an incredible year of fundraising for Bliss and are so grateful to our amazing nursery families for all their support. We are thrilled to be making this donation, which will help ensure more babies have the best chance of survival.”

Crescent Day Nursery children make Christmas care home visit

Crescent care home visit

Children and colleagues from Crescent Day Nursery in Edgbaston have been spreading the Christmas cheer with a visit to the residents of nearby Beaumont Care Home.

Dressed in their Christmas jumpers, pre-schoolers from the Ofsted-rated ‘Outstanding’ Day Nursery on Calthorpe Road showcased their talents by singing a selection of popular carols to the group, before handing out homemade Christmas cards which they had created for the residents in crafting sessions at the setting, along with tree decorations and snowflakes.

During the visit, children also presented the residents with a gift hamper filled with treats to enjoy over the festive period, including chocolate and biscuits, much to their delight.

Crescent Day Nursery Deputy Manager, Amie Draper explained;

“We loved getting out in our local community and spreading some joy during this special time of the year. The children had a fantastic time and the residents were absolutely thrilled to see them and receive their gifts. This is a brilliant way of encouraging citizenship and we hope to make more trips like this in the New Year now Covid restrictions have been lifted.”

Windmill Hill Day Nursery Christmas Fayre raises £750 for charity

Festivities were well underway at Windmill Hill Day Nursery in Swindon as families gathered at the setting for a fun-filled Christmas Fayre, all whilst raising money for charity ‘Bliss’.

At the Ofsted-rated ‘Outstanding’ Day Nursery on Windmill Hill Business Park, Whitehill Way, pre-schoolers were transported to the North Pole with a visit to Santa’s Grotto where they each received an early Christmas present, before having their faces painted ready for a festive disco, complete with balloons and party lights.

As part of the celebrations, families also enjoyed a range of themed activities, including Christmas biscuit decorating and a tombola, raising a grand total of £750.00 for the worthy cause, which will now go towards helping babies born premature or sick and their families.

As a result of their fundraising efforts throughout the year, which have included colleagues spending a night ‘sleeping rough’ under the stars, a climb up Snowdon, sponsored scoot, dress up days and more, the nursery have helped contribute to the £160,000 raised so far by Childbase Partnership settings for Bliss since January.

Nature Trails Day Nursery Christmas Fayre raises over £1,500 for charity

Festivities were well underway at Nature Trails Day Nursery in Cawston as families gathered at the setting for a fun-filled Christmas Fayre, all whilst raising money for charity ‘Bliss’.

At the award-winning setting on Coventry Road, pre-schoolers were transported to the North Pole with a visit to Santa’s Grotto, before enjoying a range of themed activities including festive face painting and a ‘Name the Elf’ game, raising a grand total of £1,537.00 for the cause, which will now go towards helping babies born premature or sick and their families.

Parents were also delighted to catch up over warming winter beverages, as well as taking part in a tombola and raffle, with prizes including a giant cuddly Elf toy and stunning Nordic Spruce Christmas tree from the nearby Lodge Farm Christmas Trees.

As a result of their fundraising efforts throughout the year, which have included colleagues spending a night ‘sleeping rough’ under the stars, a sponsored cycle, dress up days and more, the nursery have helped contribute to the £160,000 raised so far by Childbase Partnership settings for Bliss since the start of the year.

“The Christmas Fayre was a brilliant way to round off our year of fundraising for Bliss. We had a magical time getting in the festive spirit and are so grateful for the continued support of our incredibly generous nursery families. We are so pleased to be making this donation to Bliss to give more babies the best start in life despite challenging circumstances.”

Snow much fun at Willows Day Nursery

Christmas came early for delighted children at Willows Day Nursery in Aylesbury as they experienced their first snowy week at the setting’s Forest School.

At the award-winning day nursery on Mandeville Road, pre-schoolers embraced the colder weather as they took to the woodland area outside for a series of exciting learning opportunities, including following animal tracks left behind in the snow and discussing the shapes of the footprints to determine which creatures they could be from.

As part of the activities, children also created their very own snowman, as well as snowballs which they used as part of an experiment to see what noises they would make when thrown against different objects, including a shelter the group had made using sticks and twigs. The children also spoke about the clothing they needed to wear in the cold weather to stay warm.

The Forest School at Willows offers a range of range of unique experiences which are delivered by Qualified Forest School Leaders all year round to help develop confidence, risk-taking and problem-solving skills in a safe space, with activities including den making, campfire building, mini adventures and large-scale, imaginative play.

Willows Day Nursery Manager, Jane Hobbs explained;

“The children love experiencing all the elements of the changing seasons in our Forest School and had a wonderful time immersing themselves in the snow-based activities on offer. All our children have daily access to our fantastic forest facility as we recognise the value this adds, as well as encouraging a lasting love of the natural world around them.”

Field House Day Nursery float wins first place at Christmas Parade

There was delight at Field House Day Nursery in Buckingham as talented practitioners and parents were crowned winners of ‘Best Float’ at the annual Buckingham Christmas Parade.

Taking the top prize in the ‘Film’ themed event with their ‘Alice in Wonderland’ inspired entry, the team from the Tingewick Road setting pulled out all the stops with a tea party scene, complete with giant playing cards and clocks, hanging umbrellas and children and adults in character costumes including the Mad Hatter and White Rabbit, beating 35 competitors.

As a result of their efforts, Field House were awarded a trophy by MP Greg Smith during the parade, which is now proudly displayed in the nursery’s trophy cabinet, as well as the £100.00 prize money which is being put towards staff wellbeing incentives at the setting.

Field House Day Nursery Manager, Liz Hofman explained;

“We couldn’t be more thrilled to have won – we all love this event and have been taking part for over a decade. Our colleagues and nursery families always put in such an enormous amount of effort and this tradition gives the children incredible memories to cherish. There were so many amazing floats, so we feel hugely proud to be chosen as winners.”

Woodlands Day Nursery get creative at Christmas

Children and colleagues from Woodlands Day Nursery in Barnet have been showcasing their creativity with a series of themed crafting activities in the run up to Christmas.

At the Ofsted-rated ‘Outstanding’ Day Nursery on Orchard Road, pre-schoolers were delighted to immerse themselves in the festivities, from creating Christmas decorations using an array of materials and experimenting with cinnamon infused playdough, to practicing their writing skills by penning Christmas cards and developing motor skills with present wrapping.

Meanwhile, staff teams were each set the challenge within their individual age-appropriate rooms of creating a special Christmas character, with designs including elf-inspired cartoons based on real colleagues and a reindeer and Santa’s sleigh made from recycled materials.

Woodlands Day Nursery Business Administrator, Sophia Southam explained;

“We have loved preparing for Christmas at Woodlands and these celebrations have presented so many imaginative opportunities for both children and colleagues. This is always a magical time of year in nursery and a brilliant way to round off a year of learning about special calendar events such as Rosh Hashana and Diwali.”

Meadow View Day Nursery children make Christmas care home visit

Meadow View care home visit

Children and colleagues from Meadow View Day Nursery in Newport Pagnell were delighted to spread Christmas cheer with a visit to the residents of nearby Castlemead Care Home.

Here pre-schoolers from the award-winning setting on Westbury Lane showcased their talents by singing a selection of popular Christmas carols to the group, including favourites such as ‘Jingle Bells’ accompanied by instruments, before handing out chocolates to the residents and talking about their excitement for the festive season over beverages.

On their walk home, children were thrilled to visit the local park, where they enjoyed using their physical skills on the climbing frame, slide and swings, before returning to the nursery for festive crafting activities, including making tree decorations to proudly display.

Meadow View Day Nursery Manager, Danielle Wright explained;

“The children had a lovely time visiting Castlemead Care Home and the residents were absolutely over the moon to see them. These intergenerational experiences can be so beneficial to both parties, and we are keen to engage in more visits like this in the New Year to create new learning opportunities and encourage citizenship amongst our pre-schoolers.”

Festive fundraising at West Cambridge Day Nursery

Kind-hearted colleagues from West Cambridge Day Nursery have been taking part in a series of fundraising initiatives to raise money for charity ‘Bliss’ in the run up to Christmas.

At the Ofsted-rated ‘Outstanding’ Day Nursery on Charles Babbage Road, colleagues Sam Waters, Tom Jakes, Charles Nnochiri and Charlie Parkin took on their own Movember challenge, growing their moustaches without shaving throughout the month of November, raising a grand total of £100 which will go towards helping babies born premature or sick.

Meanwhile, a special Christmas Raffle was organised by Business Administrator, Amanda Derouich, raising a total of £300 for the worthy cause and giving nursery families the chance to win prizes including Christmas gift bundles, prosecco, Hotel Chocolat items and more.

Across the setting, delighted children have also been enjoying an array of festive activities and celebrations, including crafting activities, Christmas lunches and parties in their rooms.

As a result of their fundraising efforts throughout the year, which have included colleagues spending a night ‘sleeping rough’ under the stars, a ‘Very Royal’ Jubilee Tea Party, dress up days and more, the nursery has helped contribute to the £120,000 raised so far by Childbase Partnership settings for Bliss, with several weeks of fundraising yet to go.
