River View Day Nursery team take on ‘Pretty Muddy’ race for charity

From conquering climbing frames to crawling through ditches, colleagues from River View Day Nursery in Hertford showcased their determination as they took on the ‘Pretty Muddy’ Race for Life to raise vital funds for Cancer Research UK.

After facing the 5k high-adrenaline course of obstacles at Welwyn Garden City’s Stanborough Park, the 17-strong team from the Ofsted-rated ‘Outstanding’ Day Nursery on North Road were delighted to learn they had raised a grand total of £1,740.10 for the worthy cause, with donations still incoming from their supporters.

River View Day Nursery Practitioner, Abi Parrot explained;

“Raising money for charity has always been hugely important to us as a team and we are so thrilled to be making this donation to Cancer Research UK. We had a brilliant time facing this challenge and the sense of team spirit really carried us through.”

The initiative is the most recent fundraising activity for River View, who have also enjoyed dress up days, sponsored step challenges, virtual balloon races and more in their efforts to raise money for CRUK, who last year announced they had been forced to cut research funding by £45 million due to losses from the pandemic.

The nursery adopted Cancer Research UK in 2020 for a year-long fundraising drive, which has now been extended until the end of 2021.

Celebrating National Nursery Practitioner Day at Meadow View Day Nursery

Devoted childcare professionals from Meadow View Day Nursery in Newport Pagnell have been celebrated by their proud managers as part of festivities for the fourth annual ‘National Nursery Practitioner Day’.

The occasion, which looks to honour the hard work and dedication of those in the Early Years sector, has been marked by colleagues from the award-winning Childbase Partnership setting on Westbury Lane who enjoyed a team lunch, consisting of platters of Subway sandwiches and sweet treats by way of appreciation.

From bidding farewell to another cohort of pre-schoolers as they transition to school, to raising vital funds for Cancer Research UK through a variety of fundraising initiatives including sponsored walks and a mini Olympics, colleagues reflected upon their accomplishments from over the past year as part of the special day.

Meadow View Day Nursery Deputy Manager, Jen Curley explained;

“Our National Nursery Practitioner Day celebrations were a great success and this provided a lovely morale boost to our team who have worked so hard over the past year. We are hugely proud of the example they set to the children and the exceptional service they continue to provide to our nursery families.”

In addition to bonuses for employees working throughout lockdown and a tax-free Partnership Dividend payment of up to £1,000 each, the company have recently held a series of virtual wellbeing events, from awards ceremony with musical performances by ‘Scouting For Girls’, to virtual bingo nights and yoga sessions to maintain connections and boost morale.

National Nursery Practitioner Day is celebrated on 18th October 2021.
