Winchester pre-schoolers stage ‘Royal Wedding’ tea party
Princes and Princesses were everywhere at West Downs Day Nursery in Winchester as pre-schoolers celebrated the Royal Wedding with a costume tea party where their home-made cupcakes topped the menu.
The party for children, parents and staff at the Ofsted-rated ‘Outstanding’ day nursery in Romsey Road, followed days of intense crafting and themed activities like matching names to pictures of the Royal family.
West Downs Manager Lyndsey Burns said:
“It has been a magical, fun time for all of us as the children have been both excited and very creative. When you capture a child’s imagination the opportunities for learning are endless,” she said, thanking parents for their support.
The children made cupcakes, crafted their own party invitations for parents, and created flags, crowns and decorations for their party costumes while staff enjoyed a ‘Red, White and Blue’ themed, non-uniform day and donated cash to charity.
West Downs Day Nursery has adopted the Alzheimer’s Society, the UK’s leading dementia charity, for a year-long fund-raising drive.
