Welwyn day nursery really rocks
Preschool Children at the Ofsted-rated ‘Outstanding’ Rowan Tree Day Nursery in Guessens Road have been busy rock painting.
They painted rocks in various colours and designs which were then taken to a nearby woodland area where they were hidden and planted.
The activity was inspired by Lets’ Rock Welwyn Garden City, with similar groups operating across Hertfordshire. The idea is to decorate a pebble and to leave them in parks or other outdoor public spaces. People can either keep the stones they find, move them or leave them in situ.
Nursery Manager Clare Ovenden said:
“The children really enjoyed this activity; not only were they able to get creative decorating pebbles, they also had great fun planting them in the woods. Now their families and people in the local community can go in search of Rowan Tree pebbles.”
