Transporting sustainability at a Newport Pagnell Day Nursery
Silver Eco-Schools Award winners, Meadow View Day Nursery in Newport Pagnell have been focusing on transport and travel as part of their learning about sustainability.
The children took part in traffic counting various forms of traffic, spotting cars, bikes and even horses.
There was also a very special visit from the fire and rescue service. They spoke to the children about their role and the children got a chance to sit in the truck.
Meadow View Manager Elkie Taylor said:
“Car travel is a major source of pollution and we encourage the use of walking and cycling as green alternatives at nursery. By teaching children about their environment from a young age, we hope to inspire a generation of young people to care about the world around them.”
The children have also taken home traffic counting project bags so that they can explore the topic even further.
