Royal Wedding party raises cash for charity at Staines Day Nursery
Union Jack flags and bunting decorated Knowle Green Day Nursery in Staines as pre-schoolers staged not one but two Royal Wedding tea parties with their homemade fruit scones topping both menus.
Treating their parents to non-alcoholic champagne, traditional cucumber sandwiches and scones, the children at the Ofsted-rated ‘Outstanding’ day nursery in Knowle Green had earlier enjoyed their own ‘street-party’ style tea with staff.
Deputy to Area Manager, Anita Bedford, who made the cucumber sandwiches for parents, said preparing for the Royal Wedding with decorating and baking had provided endless fun for both children and staff.
“We have all had such a lovely time in the lead up to the wedding so it was wonderful that we were able to share it with the parents,” she said, adding that staff enjoyed a ‘Red, White and Blue’ themed, non-uniform day and donated cash to charity.
Leading crafting and baking activity, Preschool Team Leader, Hannah Willis, helped children, who took it in turns to wear ‘Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’ masks, in making the scones and decorating the room for their ‘street party’.
Knowle Green Day Nursery has adopted the Alzheimer’s Society, the UK’s leading dementia charity, for a year-long fund-raising drive.
