Nurseries celebrate company takeover
Childbase Partnership staff were definitely ‘having their cake and eating it’ on Friday as they celebrated National Employee Ownership Day, a year after they took over the company.
Celebratory breakfasts, lunches, cakes and gifts in 41 nurseries in the South of England marked the latest celebrations for 1,800 staff who became owners of their award-winning company a year ago.
As Sarah Gibson, Manager of the Ofsted-rated ‘Outstanding’ Maples Day Nursery in Winchester explained colleagues were still on a ‘high’ following the move from individual share ownership of the company to a Trust Board which benefits all employees.
“As owners, every employee has a voice, a role in the decision-making process and a share of the profits, so we are all personally invested in giving our children the best possible nursery experience,” she said.
And at Devonshire Day Nursery in Chiswick, Manager Emmy Avery, said:
“Owning the company is also great news for our children as Ofsted inspectors have repeatedly told us that a happy and engaged staff team equals confident children ready to realise their full potential. That’s the real reward,” she said.
