Health and Safety first at Coventry Day Nursery
Children at the Ofsted-rated Outstanding, Westwood Day Nursery have been learning the road safety essentials to mark Child Safety Week.
Preschool took lessons in road safety and went out for a walk, putting what they learned into practice. They have shared how they travel to nursery and discussed how to keep safe whilst on the move. Hearing and sight are two important senses used when keeping safe and the children have put these to good use; listening out for sounds of vehicles and watching for safe times to cross the road as well as traffic lights and zebra crossings.
Nursery Manager Bev Sharpe explained:
“You are never too young to learn about road hazards and at Westwood, health and safety is a priority. We make learning about keeping safe fun, using play and activities that get children engaged and motivated as well as trips out into the community which allow children to put their learning into action.”
Child Safety Week is an annual event run by the Child Accident Prevention Trust to raise awareness of risks and how they can be prevented.
