Childbase Partnership tops UK and Europe in staff development

Childcare and education provider, Childbase Partnership is a UK leader and one of the best in Europe when it comes to looking after its employees, according to judges in the prestigious European Business Awards.

The employee-owned Childbase Partnership, which has 41 premier day nurseries in the South of England, took ‘The Workplace and People Development Award’ and will now go on to represent the UK in the finals in Poland.

Attending the awards ceremony at the London Stock Exchange, Angela Brown, Chairperson of the Childbase Partnership Council, a 42 elected employee representative group empowered in all major strategic decisions at the company, said:

“Childbase Partnership is a company that is proud to be different. We were competing against large corporate organisations but our commitment to workplace and people development really shone through. We couldn’t be more proud of this achievement.”

The award comes less than a year after the company moved to full employee ownership and just weeks after a total £850,000 ‘Sharing our Success’ payment to staff. Childbase Partnership has also as been on the Sunday Times Best Companies to Work For’ lists for over a decade and is rated top for quality amongst large Early Years providers.

Childbase Partnership, which employs over 1,700 people caring for nearly 6,000 children aged between six weeks to five years, was chosen by a panel of independent judges including senior business leaders, politicians and academics as the best in the UK for engaging and motivating all its employees and investing in recruitment, personal and skills development.

Most Childbase Day Nurseries are rated Ofsted ‘Outstanding’ making it top for quality amongst large Early Years providers and a close second overall in a national league table.

The award was accepted by Jack Meekings, Deputy Manager of the Ofsted-rated ‘Outstanding’ West Downs Day Nursery and an employee elected director of the Childbase Partnership Trust Board which holds all company shares for the benefit of ALL employees.
