Buckingham Day Nursery claims first prize in Christmas Parade
Field House Day Nursery staff and children delighted thousands in the annual Buckingham Town Christmas parade with took both top prizes for ‘Best in Show’ and ‘Best Float’, for their ‘Old Macdonald’ themed float.
The theme of the parade this year was nursery rhymes and practitioners were inspired by the children’s enjoyment of the song in nursery.
Practitioners and children involved created their own farm animal costumes. The children in each room created animal faces on paper plates which they used to make bunting for the top of the float.
One parent put her creative skills to good use and made us felt animals, flowers and a tractor to decorate the float. Another parent provided the lighting for the float and donated their time to prepare for the parade. They made reindeer food from oats and glitter which was given to the crowds, together with sweets that were generously donated by a parent.
Field House Manager Kellie Seaton said:
“I am overwhelmed by the support from parents and practitioners who all worked hard to come together to make this a fantastic event. We were absolutely thrilled to win first prize, but that is only testament to the support we have had from the nursery, and wider community. The children have had a great time preparing and taking part in the event.”
Field House won a cash prize of £65 which they will be donating to their charity of the year, The Alzheimer’s Society.
